A woman explains why she participated in the Lefkada Association of Montreal.
RES.: Could you tell me a little about the Lefkada Association, how did you get involved?
ΑΝ.: When I came here, since I didn’t have any of my own people,
I had no relatives, nobody, I definitely wanted a place where I’d at least know that
I’d find my own people. And this place was only the association. Back when I didn’t know anybody.
That’s why when I first went to the association, I initially joined the association, I was twenty-three years old.
I entered as an advisor then, because it was a... a place which I liked a lot, it reminded me of Greece a
lot and it was as if I was seeing my own people. The Lefkadians I felt as my family. That’s why. That’s how I started to join the association.
