A woman describes how she felt in the new country.
Res.: And how, how did you feel when you first came here?
I know you didn’t like it. But what, what did you feel when you first came?
H.T.: I felt lost. (Laughs) Like, like… Of course, I was
in a foreign place.
Res.: Yes.
H.T.: But I was feeling lost, as if I got lost.
Res.: That is? As…
H.T.: As if I got lost. Because… the place was foreign,
everything was foreign, the people were foreign and I was a foreigner.
Res.: Yes.
H.T.: In an unknown place.
Res.: Yes. Yes, yes, yes.
H.T.: And the important thing is I was under the
impression that I was going to go back. And my sister along with my
brother-in-law took me to Niagara, one-two nights, to see…
Res.: What’s Niagara? Sorry.
H.T.: To see… its waters… Niagara Falls.
Res.: Ah! Niagara. Ah! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Yes, yes,
yes, yes, yes.
H.T.: Which is historical. And they considered Niagara
Falls something extraordinary in Greece.
Res.: Ah yes.
H.T.: And I wanted, since I came to Canada, to go see
Canada’s waterfalls.
Res.: Yes. Yes, yes, yes.
H.T.: We went for two-three nights we stayed. They were
very beautiful and during the night the colors changed and I was very
impressed by that.
Res.: Yes, yes.
H.T.: And the hotels were nice, let’s say, for the
tourists and so on.
Res.: Yes, yes, yes. And…
H.T.: The only good thing.
