A man reports that as he was walking in the street with the Greek stores in Montreal, he was approached by another Greek immigrant who offered him a job.
E.Z.: At that time, Hellenism was all concentrated in Saint Laurent, Park Avenue and one day, as soon as I arrived, I was looking for a job and when I came by,
a Greek who was there asks me “Are you working?” I say “No, I just arrived from Greece”. “Which place are you from?”
I say “From Tripolis”. “Oh, I’m from these parts myself” says he “Come here” says he “He’s asking for someone”.
I didn’t ask how much per day, I didn’t ask what kind of work it is, I just put on my blazer and I went to work.
