A man mentions how the Ottawa youth spent his leisure (cinema, football, bowling).
L.P.: And we were bringing movies to watch… to… so that the Hellenism would watch Greek films. We had them under the church. RES.: Ah, yes? L.P.: Yes, yes. To watch Greek movies. Then we had bingo. We had bowling for the youth. Years went by nicely. But I can’t complain. Praise God. Very nicely. RES.: Yes but there wasn’t… there wasn’t a Greek soccer team. L.P.: Eeeh… we founded later. RES.: Ah, you founded later. L.P.: We established soccer. And good, not… Up to this day we’ve got some ten Greek teams… Here in Ottawa. RES.: Ah, yes? L.P.: And girls as well, little children and stuff. Yes. We do have. Yes. RES.: Your relationship with the Canadian society? With the Canadian society. With other immigrant groups did you have relations? Did you have contacts? When you came. L.P.: Eeh... when... Look. No. I don’t think with... We had then... back then we were hotheaded since Greece. The Italians. The Spanish. We were playing soccer and most of the time we were getting into fights. Like they’re fighting in Greece now. We, the outsiders, we were fighting… the fans… Well. Alright? This… this never stopped. It has stopped now. Because things have changed. We became lambs as well. From the wild lambs we used to be, we became calm. RES.: Ok. [Laughs] L.P.: Do you understand?
