Aboriginals angels
Woman talking about getting to know the Aboriginals.
D.V.: I love Canada very, very much. I should tell you, we were travelling from North and… -I’m going to tell you this-… and the car slips, winter, in so much snow and the car falls and there’s not a living soul passing by there now, eh? And I say “Christ, send an angel to help us out”. What are we going to do? Only myself and Vasilis, eh? What are we going to do? And that truck stops and there were Indian people, Aboriginals. And they stopped! Our angel! And they helped us out. And they were bringing a sick child to the hospital in Winnipeg, but they stopped to help us, my girls. And you’d pay and you’d pay thousands of dollars and the man didn’t accept anything whatsoever, not even for coffee, but he said “Do the same for those you might come across yourselves”. I have experiences. We owned restaurants in Thomson and we loved the natives, we respected them, that they called us their cousins. We called them ‘cousins’. We fell in love… I… I shall talk about myself, I fell in love with the Canadian people and this beautiful, stunning country of Canada.
