A woman describes an accident while at work and the supervisor’s reaction at the factory and her husband’s at home.
G.C.: I was working at a saw, I was cutting the pork to pieces. And I cut my finger, they took me to the hospital, to Batris Hospital, there in Wester Hospital and the doctor gave me a paper, to hand it over to the foreman and sit out two weeks. RE.: Yes. G.C.: The foreman instantly tore it apart, I didn’t know any English at all and he tells me “Go home”. I go home, the husband sees me, he asks “What happened to you?”. I started, I was crying, the little one in her crib little more than one year old. I say “This is what happened”, I sat out two weeks, I went again. RE.: And they took you in? G.C.: Eh, of course they took me in and they put me in the same position. The husband tells me “If they put you in the same machine, you’ll take your pursue right away and come back”. Myself, since we had shortages, we lacked everything, I played fool and I went. And I started working. The husband asks me at night “What happened? Where did you work?”. I told him a lie, but he saw right through me and he understood. The next day, he comes at the factory, grabs me by the sleeve, “Let’s go home”, he says. Eh, and since then I never went again.
