A woman reports that she did not like Halifax, because it was a small village.
Α.S.: And those people were waiting for me… at the
airport… when I arrived here. I didn’t like it at all! Because as a kid I
thought I would go somewhere in New Work, with skyscrapers and when I saw
Halifax, for me it was a village. And we had arrived in Halifax and I asked
them “Where is Halifax?” and they told me “This is it” and I was disappointed!
I didn’t like it. That was the truth. However, I liked the freedom I enjoyed
from the family I stayed with. And for me freedom was to be able to apply…
eyeliner, to wear a mini. Something which my mother wouldn’t let me do. She
would tell me I had to be eighteen years old, to do these things, when I was
in Greece. And when they told me “Oh, yes! You can put on makeup”, I said “I’m
never leaving here!” (Laughs).
