The congregation
A woman explains how the ties between the Greeks were strengthened through their participation in Sunday congregation.
S.P.: The job. I like the church a lot. I like the church too, I enjoy it and then I myself now at this church,
I came so young, we got married, I have my children. This church is for myself my church as they say for everything. And a great
many friends, you come, you see each other, you drink a coffee. Along with the church, the liturgy, there’s all that too.
Everybody, let’s say, many say “I go to…”, it’s not just the church, it’s all that… You’ll see your friends and you feel good to come.
RES.: Did you get involved in the festivals?
S.P.: Yes, yes, the first years in particular, my husband started the festival.
RES.: Yes?
S.P.: And then my brother-in-law kept it going for many years, Aristophanes,
Ares, for many, many years he was working, only until last year he was very busy with work… and…
RES.: Do you organize it here? Where do you organize it?
S.P.: The festival? Here, they had a park on the opposite side and
then they built something and weren’t allowed this year, so now he isn’t coming himself, let’s say, but yes, the family was very much involved…
