A man explains the process of registration at a French school in Montreal.

siblings went to the English school. When I came, in order to go to the French
one, I had to prove that I’m Catholic, because then, if you weren’t Catholic,
you couldn’t go to the French school and the parish priest at ‘Agape’ had to
send the birth certificate in Latin to ensure the misters here that I’m indeed
Catholic and I have the right to go to a French school. Thereafter came the
French laws, the ‘la loi venteur’ and then the ‘la loi […]’ and compulsorily
everyone was going to the French school.
