Family Life

Family Life
In many cases, entrance into the host country equals entrance into marital life. Young males and females who find themselves in Canada meet their future companions during work, in family meetings, in places of entertainment, or, following the process of arranged marriage, they invite women and men from Greece, thus rendering wedlock a means of entrance into Canada. Wedding photos or photos exchanged between women and men reflect at the same time the wedding practices, social values and gender standards in the country of origin and the host country, and narrate the way in which they are interwoven and reconfigured through and because of immigration mobility. On the other hand, these stories shed light upon the matter of parental relations and the re-evaluation of roles within the family.
