Greek communities, local regional associations, Orthodox churches -
from Halifax to Vancouver - testify to the Greek immigrants’ effort
to develop bonds by forming collegialities with different qualitative
characteristics. However, they, do also highlight the relations – as
well as the absence thereof – with the host society. Through the
experiences of not only the “together”, but also of the “apart”,
as well as through their emotions and narratives regarding “Greek”
identity, the immigrants are sketching the historical and political
reality in Canada, the policy of multiculturalism, and the constantly
renegotiated identity of the immigrant, “in between here and there”.
