Mixing Greek, English and French but also adding dialectal elements in
the standardized demotic Greek, Greeks breathe life into stories from
their place of origin and from Canada, while revealing their multifaceted
linguistic wealth. They narrate ways of learning English or French, through
dictionaries or TV shows such as the Flintstones, the difficulties
encountered as well as the highly original ways of tackling them. They tell
us about mixing languages, about the importance of preserving and
transmitting Greek from one generation to another. They express their
anxiety about the linguistic death of Greek in Canada.
